Further Information

Síðasti Bóksalinn is the debut novel of writer Ingimar Bjarni Sverrisson. He studied theatre at Rose Bruford College in London and creative writing at the University of Iceland. He’s both directed and acted in pieces in the Icelandic independent theatre scene and freelances as a writer at various places. He wrote the one-man show Guide to Guiding, based on his lively work as a glacier guide, written for multiple outlets and maintains his website ingimarbjarni.is where he writes about whatever he feels like (mostly sports and literature).

Now he is realizing his lifelong goal of publishing a novel. Síðasti Bóksalinn is a short and thrilling story, both a love letter to bookstore and meditation on life in a post-trust society.

On a gorgeous summer day the titular character Mikael, the city’s last bookseller, needs to decide how to cut his way out of noose prepared by more powerful entities. During thishe realized the problems and possibilities complete independence provide him .At the end of the day, all that matters to him is keeping his little bookstore open, how can he while the city reaches a boiling point.

So the book can become reality, we need your help. The hardest part of independent publishing like this is, especially for a young and unproven writer, is financing the printing. For that reason we are doing this crowdfunding campaign, which is the cornerstoneo which this whole project rests on.

It takes trust to pledge support for a project like this. We want to be worthy of that trust. While we are confident that this book is good, you shouldn’t take our word forit. Below is a recording of the first two chapters, read by the author. Upon pledging you will receive the second two chapters on audio. If you think you will enjoy this book, or know someone that will, secure a copy now.

Each pledge ha various rewards. Every copy of the book will have a gorgeous bookmark, designed by Júlíus Valdimarsson. Every pledge also has a ticket to a book raffle, in which Ingimar will be giving away books from his massive library. Finally, because Ingimar knows some of his friends are pranksters, every pledge will have a small punishment for him.

We cannot do thiswithout you. The hardest part of a career as an independent artist are thefirst step. Building the readers trust, get to potential readers and being worthy of their trust. This book is great, unique and it is waiting for you, but only if we can successfully pull this campaign off. We’ll see you at the publishing party!

The prank

For those of you thatwant to prank Ingimar a bit, we have included a rep range in every pledge. Forevery rep gathered Ingimar will do one dip or pull up in one horrible workout. This will be filmed by Fimmta Lotan and will make for a hilarious video.
