Fundraiser for tuition fees for Sound Art MFA in Columbia University
The Sound Art program emphasizes music or sound in conjunction with other art forms. Students work with sound as a creative medium.
The tuition for the year is 74,722 US dollars, but the school gives me a 29,000 scholarship. So, there are 45,722 dollars left for me to cover, in addition to all kinds of other costs including books and supplies. With this fundraiser I hope to put a little dent in this amount. The rest I will cover with student loans and perhaps other scholarships.
All advice on scholarships and grants are very appreciated.
(Even though I have spent a LOT of timeresearching and applying for grants and scholarships already.)

I am a composer, guitarist, pianist and organist. I have a project called Asalaus and have been active in the underground music scene in Reykjavík. I graduated with a BA in composition last year from the Iceland University of the Arts and have released a few albums, both as Asalaus and as a member of the bands Ateria, that won Músíktilraunir (The Iceland Music Experiments) in 2018, and Gaffer Ensemble, that released their first album last spring. My compositional practice is focused on experiments with sound and notation. During the last year, I have been working with composer Bára Gísladóttir, along with continuing my own projects.
