Would you like to see a film about a very, very sad vampire in North Iceland?
Help us fund our first steps to create this horror comedy! The average costs of short films is around 14.000EUR, so this fund is a very little, but crucial start for us to raise more funds later. The team is tiny, but very willing to grow and will be located in Iceland under the name "MOON HORSES FILMS".
THE STORY
The name comes from an unforgettable dream that I saw in my teens and it will be one of the first two short films produced by this company (*see below ).
The idea for film company started to become a necessity for a simple reason - to have an official company to apply for fundings for the short films (to start with). A formality at it's roots, it also has become a chance for us to create a long lasting platform and business plan for upcoming 5 years. Alongside few finished scripts, I have created and outlineddiverse TV shows and full features enough to keep us busy for the next 10 years (at least). "Outline" in this case includes the plot, characters, mood boards and additional story lines - all the necessary ingredients to carve out scripts.
How will this fund help us?
We will be able to register official production company that will allow us to apply for smaller and bigger funds both here in Iceland and internationally, so we could finally start pre-production of our first short. We will apply both for script writing funds and other film making essentials, like pre-production, filming and post-production. It takes a long time and dedication to finish a film (our shortfilms might take 1-2 years) and while there are some costs to be avoided, we want to create space where artists get paid for their beautiful job. That means for us as well to have it as our main profession. And to start it, we really need and appreciate help (*please feel free to contact us, if you would like to volunteer in any other way).***
To sum it up :
Funding will be used to cover company registration fees, development costs for company’s homepage, first month’s production facilities rent and merchandise design. This given amount will cover just a small part of it, but we will gain the basic essentials needed to start first two film production projects.
ADDITIONAL NOTE
Our big mission is to bring diverse people together - actors, musicians, animators, filmmakers - so we could create stories that would refreshen the cinema life and to create space for indipendent artists to flourish. With ability to have fundings, we could create a stronger artist community here in Iceland and Latvia. We want to inspire others - no matter the age, race or backgrounds - whose dreams lay dormant or who have been told otherwise.

THE CREATOR and IDEA ENGINE
My name is Diana Sus - I am a musician / filmmaker from Latvia and for the last 5 years I have been residing in Iceland. During this time, while being actively in music, I started learn and take part in films. I had a chance to produce a short film, TV episode, co-direct and produce all my music videos, have a taste of production life on bigger sets and get my first acting on experience on "Netflix". This lead me to learn scriptwriting and opened up a whole pandora box of ideas and worlds that I have been building up for years.
In the autumn 2022 I finally jumped into more directing and acting, just to reassure that this is something I want to dedicate my life to and now I am finally ready and crazy (= brave) enough to do so. I am also lucky to have dedicated colleages, who have become life long friends and are ready to create Moon Horses Films with me.

For now, our team is tiny, but very tight and diligent - I am taking care of the scripts, vision, directing, project managing and in some projects - also acting. Matiss swirls in Asistant Directing, Sound Depratment and Project Managing too, while Marika is our elf of Production Assistance & Social Media.
Matiss has been side by side on many adventurous video projects throughout the years - be it live music video on unhibated island or big concert LIVE show, he'll be the "all in one” and “make it happen” man. At this moment Matiss has been full time in film production for the last 4 years, mostly in the sound department, but has many other talents under his sleeve.
Marika has been my team member since the "Sus Dungo" band times for way over a decade - several tours in Italy and Germany behind. She enjoys video editing for social media as much as being on the film set and behind the scenes, no matter the given task . She will be our "Force Within" the vast waters of Social Media, as well our PA.
We have been through our journeys, losses and findings, but now we're joining our strengths and experiences to start something where our passions unite on a deeper level.
NOT MY DAY
"In a remote, yet cozy little town of North of Iceland - Dalvik, resides Berenice - a peculiar young lady, who, on countrary to other inhabitants in town, has always enjoyed the dark, gloomy winters. Oh, but the summer is beyond the devastation... Treated as the "local weirdo", she hides from people during this period and surives in an old cinema where she binges on old films and secretly carves the dream to become a film actress. What holds her back ? Is it her dark secret she has or is it the changes of the world where the old is not so welcome anymore ?"

This film is inspired by the long winters that loom for those living in Nordic areas. After experiencing the so called "winter depression" myself, I decided to write a film about it as sort of a therapy. Not only the character goes through "every year seasional turmoil", but also it has "the big dream" of film acting - another thing I played with from my own life. I hope it inspires others not to give up and have a good laugh to brighten up the tough moments of life .

A young girl has gotten into life threatening accident. Not knowing if she is till alive or not, she is met by a mysterious woman talking in language that she never knew she could understand before. As her journey continues, more things happen that blurs the line between reality and imagination, putting her to an ultimate test of trust and faith... "

One of the main reasons for me to pursue the dream of filmmaking, is this one. I literally dreamt it when I was sixteen - the shots, characters and sequences - all dream as a film. I have kept it very dear and close to my heart, so I would not "spoil it" with rushing myself. Until now, I have made choir music drafts, written poetry for it and nailed down a script. I can't wait to welcome you into this cinematic experience and inspire you to feel that "special thing".
