Hi, we are John.

John the Houseband is a performance band that came together in Amsterdam in 2008. We are a collaborative changing body, a band which is not a band but an art project, an investigation of life and liveness. We've been performing concerts and singing choreographies in different places around Europe; in houses, clubs, bars, cinemas, apartments and theaters. Now we want to bring these songs together and make our first full album.

John the Houseband is our life-long dream and very important to all of us. John consists of one Swede, one Icelander, two Germans, a Spaniard and a Belgian and since we are living in different countries we need some extra support to be able to come together to record our album. The crowdfunding will help us cover the most important costs and get us all together so that we can make our dream come true.

Since this will be our first CD, we’ve decided to make an anthology; a generous overview of our rich history as a band. We want to include the best songs from our past three projects: Tripping North, John Quixote, and The One That Didn’t Have A Title. Since we are very ambitious people we will probably record more than a CD. At least a double CD. This might seem crazy, but we do have 2 weeks in a recording studio, and two weeks in the rehearsal studio before, so we are confident that we can record a lot.

The money you grant us goes in the largest part to travels to and from the recording studio in Brussels (27%) then to the actual pressing of CD’s (22%). A fee for a professional mixer makes 18% of the budget. The smaller costs are accommodation (13%), artwork (11%) and post stamps (9%).
