Farming and developing Icelandic chili, Dream of your taste buds.
On the left, María Ýr:
In 2015, María Ýr took over the operation of the greenhouse Birkiflöt in Laugarás, Iceland. There she grows cherry tomatoes in a 2700 square meters greenhouse. María has grown all kinds of chili peppers since 2015.
On the right, Viktoria Ósk:
She started helping his sister María in the Birkiflöt greenhouse in 2015.
Made various experiments with chili for fun and developed the chili jam which is the first product of Djam ehf.
We want to grow all kinds of Icelandic hot pepper, use vegetables that are lost in cultivation into product development and add to the variety of vegetables that are not grown in this country. All of it will be developed and produced by a new small company called Djam ehf, owned by Viktoria. We would like to be able to have several varieties of hot peppers so that more product developments can be made. We have a garden center and can give ourselves more space next summer for more experimentation. And/or set up an extra greenhouse on our property if the collection goes well. Birkiflöt has already been growing chili peppers for Djam ehf for 2 years.
Djam ehf is currently producing only one type of chili jam. But our dream is to grow more varieties of chili peppers and vegetables and in more quantities. We want to promote the company, the product and add more products in the future.
Djam ehf's goal is to present the dreams of the taste buds to the people.
