No more wet bums!
The main problem for owners of Zero 10X is the short lenght of the rear fender which does not allow the protection needed.
Thats why Bekksmiðjan is going to design, develop, test and manufacture a rear fender made out of a biodegradable PLA according to EN 13432 og DIN EN ISO 14855.
The fenders will be designed and developed by Ingi Bekk at Bekksmiðjan and 3D Printed by Smásmiðjan which specializes in 3D Printing and CNC Laser cutting and engraving.
Ingi Bekk has a degree in lighting design but found a new passion in product design and manufacturing by the end of 2021 when he got a 3D printer as a gift from his wife.
As a result of that he design Vinyl Holders that allow people to display vinyl sleeves and records on their walls but does not limit their usage.
The design was incredibly well received and sold numerous copies in the following months.
Bekksmiðjan was founded in the beginning of 2022 on the success of the holders and started designing and manufacturing 3D printed designs and products for the home with focus on biodegradable materials and carbon neutrality.
Smásmiðjan was founded by Ingi in September 2022 to take care of the manufacturing side of Bekksmiðjan as well as offering 3D Printing and CNC Laser service for customers.
It's expected that the look and feel of the fender will change throughout the process from the prototype. However the aim will be on a streamlined design like the prototype focused on simple and easy assembly and maintainance.
Given that the project reaches it's goal the development and testing phase will start immediately. This phase is expected to take around 5-8 weeks to complete where multiple versions will be made, tested and developed.
Once the first phase is finished the manufacturing stage will be initiated and the fender will be available to the supporters on a "first support, first served" bases.
