Who is Drinni?

Drinni (AKA Andri Kristinsson) is a guitarist and singer-songwriter. He has over the last few years released the albums:

DrinniK - Best að Vera Bugaður - Nihilistic Tendencies (2017)
Drinni & The Dangerous Thoughts - Shocking Revelations (2020)
Drinni & The Dangerous Thoughts - Hávær ljóð (2022)

Drinni has previously played with bands Darth Coyote, which released three EPs and Perversjón that put out one EP. Lyrics are important to Drinni and he always aims at making the music complement the lyrics for more harmonious and richer compositions.

The Dangerous Thoughts?

Drinni is the brains behind Drinni & The Dangerous Thoughts, but with him on the album are musicians Drinni has a history with. Wolfgang Frosti Sahr plays sax and accordion, he previously played with Drinni in DrinniK. Wolli has a music career spanning many years. Drums and percussion were in the care of Jón Haukur Unnarsson. Jón Haukur previously played in Darth Coyote with Drinni, but has also been in bands such as Völva, Hindurvættir, Nolem & Kött Grá Pje, Brák and Þorsteinn Kári. Bass is played by Ingi Jóhann Friðjónsson, he was along with Jón Haukur and Drinni in Darth Coyote. Ingi has, to name a few, played with bands like: Völva, Hindurvættir, Á geigsgötum and Brák

Hávær ljóð

Hávær ljóð was recorded 2021-2022. The instruments were played by those mentioned above, but Drinni also played banjo and mandolin. Songs and lyrics are all written by Drinni, who also mixed the album. Þorsteinn Kári Guðmundsson did the mastering for digital release. The album was recorded in several places in Northern Iceland and is thoroughly DIY.

What is MBS (Mannfólkið breytist í slím/Mankind Turns Into Slime)

MBS Records (Mannfólkið breytist í slím/Mankind Turns Into Slime Records) is an Icelandic DIY record label, a collaboration between musicians from Akureyri that used to share a practice facility and studio some years ago. They have been releasing music as a collective through MBS Records since 2010. Characterized by brotherhood and non-profit work, MBS strives for free musical expression and has since its formation released 17 digital records, three of which have been physically released on CD and one on vinyl. Now an attempt will be made to release Hávær ljóð on vinyl, but for that to become reality we need some help and support!

Apart from being a record label MBS also hosts the annual music festival Mannfólkið breytist í slím in Akureyri. Mannfólkið breytist í slím aims to show the best of North-Iceland’s underground scene and is a non-profit event established in 2018.

It is possible to pledge the project in several ways. You can also ask Drinni to cover a song of your choice and he will record it and send it to you. You could also pledge to be a VIP guest at the music festival Mannfólkið breytist í slím 2023 which will come with several sizeable perks.
