Gaza Company is a social Enterprise company that aims to support the most vulnerable women in Gaza to gain a decent income, so they are able to meet their living needs and provide for their families. In view of the fact that these women are the breadwinners for their families - more than 300 members benefit directly from this project. The women hope to have a long and productive relationship with the Icelandic population, which has up to this day supported the Palestinian nation through wartime hardship. Najlaa and the women see their work as a social and political project for the sake of peace and a better life for women in Palestine; a battle fought with threads and needles.
The women working on the production are highly skilled in textile-related crafts. The women produce high quality handmade embroideries products with a unique design that reflects Palestinian textile and sewing traditions. The women also produce beautiful products that reflect both the Icelandic and the Palestinian sewing culture and heritage colors; a unification of cultures in embroidery work.
The women produce various handmade items from environmentally friendly fabrics, e.g. scarves, cross-bags, purses and duvet covers with pillow covers. The products from Gaza Company are known for their high quality and for their unusually fair prices.
Najlaa and the women in Gaza launched their Gaza-made products in the mid of 2020. Despite having received very positive reaction from the Icelandic public, the women are struggling to maintain the production process. In order to keep the production cycle going it is necessary for the women to receive funding. That way the women will be able to continue their work and support their families in the war-stricken Gaza. The women hope that in time they will be able to make their unique production known to all Icelanders.
