After much anticipation, Mr. Silla is geared up to release her long awaited, full-length LP ‘Hands On Hands’ set to come out later this year on newly formed label Making Records.
Mr. Silla (Sigurlaug Gísladóttir) has been a fixture both in and around the Icelandic music scene since the start of her involvement with electronic pioneers, múm, in her early 20’s. She has since solidified her pop prowess with the release of her debut self-titled album in 2015, and has shown her creative versatility through musical collaborations as well as in the world of fashion and visual art.
About Hands on Hands:
In contrast to the dark laments of her first record, ‘Hands On Hands’ muses on the duality of things ranging from the playful simplicity of buttered toast to the complexities of gender and sexuality. From carefully designed choral arrangements to pop anthems about anime, Mr. Silla leads us through a musical world that is light with tonal variance, yet deep with lyrical content that is both vital and current. Hands on Hands was recorded and mixed between Berlin and London with the help of producer Mike Lindsay (Tunng, Cheek Mountain Thief etc.) and collaborator/mixing engineer Sam Slater (Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ben Frost, Hildur Guðnadóttir etc.).
A word from Making Records:
“We are full of anticipation to start off the new label with the release of Mr. Silla’s Hands on Hands. The goal of this crowdfunding effort is to cover cost of post-production and pressing of vinyl. We are all beyond excited to have the finished product in our hands and we hope you are too!”
