In the early summer of 2018 we released our first EP on Spotify. The album was named "From Source", contains 6 songs and is the former part of a bigger picture.

These days we are working really hard to record our second EP, the latter chapter of the story...
The new EP is called "To the Ocean" and will contain 6 new songs.
These two puzzle pieces will then form a brand new LP called "From Source, to the Ocean - A Tale of Two Rivers", which we plan to release both in digital and on physical format.

"From Source, to the Ocean - A Tale of Two Rivers." is a concept-album that narrates the story of a soul looking to remedy a broken heart, find its purpose in life and the answers to all of life's big questions.

The songs on this album are all written in the period of 2014-2017, during which Ivan (composer and front-man of the band) traveled the world, practicing and acquiring knowledge about meditation, yoga and alternative-medicine after suffering a nervous breakdown.

Our main objective with this Karolina-funding is to raise money for recording, mixing and producing and releasing our album.

Recording engineer of the album is Sigfús Jónsson. Mixing and mastering by Haukur Pálmason.

The music video from our first ever single "Light of New Day"

Our album release concert.

To celebrate the release of our new album we have decided to host a concert.
The concert will be held in The Black Box, in the cultural house "HOF", in Akureyri on the 8th of June. Alongside the band we will have special guests on stage including string players, brass winds and backing vocalists. So in short, we are going all out!

Note: There will be one concert and this will be the bands last official performance!

About GRINGLO

Members:
Ivan Mendez - Lead vocals, acoustic guitar.
Guðbjörn Hólm - Bass, baking vocals.
Guðjón Jónsson - Keyboards, Piano.
Arnar Freyr Scheving - Drums, percussion.

GRINGLO is a ambient folk-rock band from Akureyri, a small town in the heart of north-Iceland. Their music varies from fast paced fingerpicking on various string instruments to floating melodies and vocal harmonies paired with heart centered lyrics.

The band started as a solo project by lead vocalist and acoustic guitar player Ivan Mendez in 2015 when he entered "Músíktilraunir". At the time Ivan had just arrived home from traveling in South-America where he wrote the first two songs that would spark the beginning of GRINGLO.
For a time Ivan played solo with his acoustic guitar but slowly and steadily the group grew into what it is today.

After the band took its final form the guys have been very ambitious in playing live, recording new music and last but not least, making music videos that convey the warm and welcoming feeling that their hometown has been known for.

The music video to "Stranger". Filmed in the cosy little street of "Ránargata" in Akureyri with the help of a film crew, musicians and over 70 locals!

Although the band has changed and evolved considerably during these short few years the main ambition always remains the same... to elevate individual-and collective human consciousness to higher levels through musical experience.
