Jógasetur í Grindavík
For many years my dream has been to build Yoga buisness in my small town of 3000 people in Grindavík, Iceland. I have only been in yoga for about 5 years but in that time many things in my life has changed. I found yoga at hard time in my life. I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and bulimia when I was 18 years old. By then I had hidden the problem for couple of years.
After I discovered yoga I found a way where I could let things go and just be myself. I realized that it was enough to be myself and I deserved happiness just like every other people.
This is something i want to spread. Mental problems are always present with us and even more are this thought that we are not enough. I want to build place where everyone can come on their own terms and just let themselves be who they are and enjoy!
Now I have bought the land under yogastudio but because I have student loan and car loan I wont get any loan from the bank. You have to own something big to get loan but can't get loan to buy things. So even though it hurt my pride a little bit I have desided to ask people to be so kind to help me make my dream come true.
My plan is to use this 20.000 euros to start building 88 fm yoga studio with room for massage or other kind of therapy. I have teachers license in Hatha Yoga, Kunalini yoga, Aerial yoga and yoga for kids so it's plan to have wide range of classes where everybody can find something which suits them.
This is the land that I bought last year it is almost 4000 fm little outside the town with nature all around.
There are many types of yoga and everyone has to find what suits them. I will briefly review the ones I have been teaching
Hatha yoga
First of all, Hatha yoga is the yoga that has become most popular in the West. Hatha yoga is stuctured with yoga positions, breathing and relaxation. By practicing hatha yoga we nourish the body and the crucial balance of physical activity, glandular system, nervous system, muscles and skeletal system, immune system, respiratory and circulatory circulation and digestion. When we practice hatha yoga we strengthen the awareness of the present moment, here and now, our concentration increases and balance is created in body, emotions and mind. The basic posture of hatha yoga are 84 but there are many versions of each position.
Kundalini yoga
Kundalini yoga is made of many factors and is sometimes called the mother of all yoga but also yoga of the knowledge. Yogi Bhajan brought Kundalini yoga techniques from India to the west in 1969, he himself was both a master of Kundalini and Hatha yoga. Previously Kundalini yoga had been confidential nature and the method only taught from master to student. Yogi Bhajan broke this secrecy and made the kundalini yoga accessible and open to anyone who wanted to learn.
Kundalini yoga is a powerful, fast-acting yoga and suits a contemporary part. Maintaining a balance the endocrine, strengthen the nervous system, increase strength and endurance, both mentally and physically.
Working with breathing, yoga positions, energizing rhythm exercises, mantras, meditation and relaxation
Kundalini energy is the life's energy in all living but can be promote and enable for most. The activation energy rises up the spine and we will have more energy and be more connected to the life force that is in us.
Aerial yoga
Aerial yoga is yoga in no gravity. We use yoga hammocks or yoga swings to help us into a position. almost anyone can try more complex yoga positions such as inverting.
Aerial yoga lengthens muscles, increases flexibility and relieves the spine and is also really fun. In no gravity it is easier for you to relax deeper into stretches and yoga postures rather than on the floor. Aerial yoga strengthens shoulders without sacrificing flexibility and strengthens the abdominal muscles without increased pressure on the lower back.
Aerial yoga reduces stress on joints, spine recovered without any pressure and it brings greater agility, strength and flexibility. It releases tension in the muscles (where the hammock is used as a deep muscle massage) and reduces the load on joints and increases their mobility.
Yoga for kids
We are born with the ability to be here and now but we loose it in the speed society. In yoga for kids, we learn to be in the present with breathing and relaxation that gives us more confidence so we know better who we are and what we want. We'll be happier, more focused and clearer. We learn methods to enhance concentration which is good for school. We meet other kids, work together and learn to rely on ourselves.
Yoga, breathing and relaxation promotes body knowledge, awareness of emotions and thoughts.
