Further Information

Our research
Our main research as „REAL collective“ is the practice of Group Improvisation. We are researching the connection between contemporary dance and the outside world. We are investigating questions like „How can we use Group Improvisation as a performative power in todays performance art?“ finding ways to share our experience with you, the community. Our main interest lies in „How can dance and especially Group Improvisation bring people from all parts of society together?“. With „REAL collective“ and this research we experience the great possibility of our education transforming into professional practice.

Why Israel?
Our teachers and mentors, Emma Rozgoni and Noam Carmeli, are based in Israel. They introduced us to the practice of Group Improvisation and Gaga. During the time with our mentors we experienced a new way of collaborating, dancing and communicating. Because we experienced a different way of working, it is essential for us as „REAL collective“ to travel to Israel. We want to experience the culture and dance environment in Israel as it pulses differently from the one in Iceland.

What will you gain if you contribute?
You will help to broaden the dance scene in Iceland by contributing to this research. You will support the physical and artistic growth of seven dance artists.

We will share the results of our research with you in forms of performance and/or workshops.

We’re aiming to travel with the project throughout Iceland and to share our practice with all groups within society.

*Short description of a workshop with „REAL collective“

Our workshops are based on experiencing the practice of Group Improvisation. We focus on building trust by communicating in other ways than verbally. Our main focus lies in strengthening connection, confidence, a non-judgmental environment, encouraging independence and sensitivity towards working in a group. The workshop is a development of "Real Monday“, which are ongoing open classes at LHÍ every Monday.

This workshop is available for all age groups. We encourage companies, schools and private parties to experience together the practice of Group Improvisation in order to strengthen the groups spirit as well as the personal identity.

Additional information will be communicated via email after arrangement and contribution.

This is a silent political revolution.
