My name is Sigríður Soffia and along with my career in design and arts, am I a Bachelors graduate in Music Communication from Icelandic Academy of the Arts. Through my education I have dealt with anxiety and as a tool to relieve some of that anxiety, I started to draw and paint. With that I was able to feel more relaxed and a sense of wellbeing. I have always been fascinated with the form of the mandala and how it can form with many different mediums. In my design of the mandala, it is created from some of my water coloured artwork influenced by the Icelandic flora.
The idea of Blómkollur arrived when my son was born and much like when I was in my studies, I used the mandala and drawing as a relaxation method to the new role of becoming a parent.
Creating an unbreakable bond between the mandala and sleep forms the function of Blómkollur. The concept of the mandala surrounds the idea of a spiritual searching for balance and harmony. That has a direct connection to the importance of sleep. Along with Ragnar, we have put in hard work towards this project becoming a possibility. The process involved researching and trying out different materials as well as manufacturers. That research has lead us to the conclusion to use a 400 thread environmentally friendly satin cotton to guarantee maximum quality. And as I am sure everyone can relate to, is that we always want the best for the ones that we love. The next obstacle is funding the first shipment of Blómkollur duvet covers and by preordering through Karolina Fund you will help us make this dream become a reality.
Sincerely,
Sigga Soffía
