Fuglafár is a game made by Birgitta Steingrímsdóttir and Heiðdís Inga Hilmarsdóttir. The project started when we realized how little we knew about birds although they are very prominent in our daily life and the only wild animals we see regularly here in Iceland. Today we are crazy bird lovers and by making Fuglafár we want to spread that interest to you. In the game you’ll get to know 30 birds which are all characteristic of Icelandic nature. The game contains paintings made by Jón Baldur Hlíðberg which has specialized in nature illustrations.
Fuglafár consists of two games ; Gettu hver fuglinn er and Fuglatromp. They are based on the ever so popular games Guess Who and Top Trumps.
The goal of Gettu hver fuglinn er is to find out what bird your opponent has before he will find out yours. The goal of the game Fuglatromp is to get all the cards in your hand by being clever and use your bird’s qualities to trump the bird of your opponent.
Fuglafár includes:
A gameboard
A bag with 60 tabs
A deck of 30 cards
A 12 page rule book including fun facts
The game is for 7 years old and older and players can be 2-4.
Birgitta is a biologist and a master student in environmental science at the University of Iceland and Heiðdís is a product design student at the Academy of the arts. We are both from Reykjavík and have been friends since we were 12 years old. The last year we've been working hard to make Fuglafár a birdtastic game that makes friends and family come together and create good memories.
Our goal is to publish Fuglafár in December and that is why we ask for your help to build the nest. Your support does matter so Fuglafár can finally take flight!
Best regards,
Birgitta and Heiðdís
