We are a Nordic theatre company created due to the collaboration of StepByStep Productions(Vala Fannell) and SimpleLife Productions(Maya Lindh) to put on this play, Moments.
The company is made up of young theatre professionals who have combined their skills and ambitions to create this fantastic piece of authentic Nordic theatre, bringing you the opportunity to explore a seemingly similar but intricately different culture to your own.
The play follows a young man named Andri who, after a tragic loss, has withdrawn from society and seemingly given up on life. We watch as Andri struggles with the ghosts from the past, as well as his own existence and relationships in the present. The play, set in modern day Reykjavík, addresses the subject of family, loss and forgiveness with brutal honesty, revealing the imperfections and raw vulnerability of the human mind and being.
Truly a rare gem of Nordic theatre, and more so unique seeing as it is performed by Icelandic actors. We will also have three select Icelandic Language performances, with subtitles.

Directed by Maya Lindh and Written by Starri Haukson, the play has an all-Icelandic cast featuring:
Aron Trausti as Andri
Siggi Holm as Torfi
Vala Fannell as Edda
Bragi Árnason & Sindri Swan as Illugi.
January 2014, Aron Trausti and Kjartan were sitting in their flat during a bit of a creative dry-spell wondering what to do. Realising they'd never acted in a play together they started looking at two handers, and suddenly Kjartan realised he had this play, 'Spor', by his friend Haukur Starrason sitting around. Having read it, Aron was instantly moved and begun translating. And then, as is the way, a job came up and 'Spor', or rather 'Moments', was now shelved. Biding its time.
It reared it's beautiful head again half a year later, but (un)fortunately Kjartan was becoming increasingly busy with his career and abroad during this time. So again it was shelved. But Aron, knowing he had to see this play on stage eventually moved forward with Kjartan's blessing!
Aron gathered his friends and colleagues to join in on the project and StepByStep Productions and SimpleLife productions teamed up to Test-drive it in June at the Crouch End Festival in London .
The response was overwhelming!
We had a sell out show and even had to add another performance. That confirmed our suspicion that we did indeed have a beautiful piece of Icelandic theatre on our hands.
We've now managed to gather just enough funds to put in a deposit at the Drayton Arms Theatre in South-Kensington London and we are premiering the 22nd of October!
Fantastic!
Also, if you can come and see the play at the Drayton Arms Theatre in October, we'd be delighted to see you after the show!

1. Where are you from?
I was born in Bergsjö, a small town located among the mountains and lakes in picturesque Hälsingland in Sweden. Bergsjö means "mountain-lake", literally…
2. How did you get from there to Moments, describe your journey briefly?
I grew up surrounded by music and theatre and moved away from "mountain lake" at 15 to study performing arts at Kulturama in Stockholm, after graduating I came to London to study acting and directing at KADA, graduating in 2012.During my time in London I’ve surrounded myself with many Icelanders, as you do, and Moments is one of our first big theatre collaborations!
3. Fun fact that not many people know aboutyou?
I have once been hanging in a rope from underneath a helicopter out on the North Sea… with my mum.
4. What do you see yourself doing 30 yearsfrom now?
Living in a lovely big house, filled with great memories from around the world, surrounded by a big family and still creating beautiful film and theatre. And still doing yoga, like a boss…
1. Where are you from?
I’m from a small village in the far north of Iceland called Laugar, named after hot water springs in the mountains.
2. How did you get from there to Moments(describe your journey briefly)?
Tried to resist the theatre bacteria which has plagued my family for generations and pretended to study psychology. 6 Years ago gave in, moved to London to study acting. Through my studies got drawn into directing and after graduation slipped into doing producing as well. Was lucky enough to know a bunch of talented people who then grouped together along with me to create this beautiful project.
3. Fun fact that not many people know about you?
I’m an absolute cartoon at the end of the day. It’s embarrassing… for me…funny for those who know!
4. What do you see yourself doing 30years from now?
Hopefully still producing, directing, acting and teaching, constantly still learning and having the opportunity to give to others what I’ve gotten from my experiences. Maybe a bit more free time which I can spend with my partner and children in my cottage in France, surrounded by a small vineyard…. and a cheese maker in the next house… and chocolate…also coffee… that’s it!
1. Where are you from?
Born in Reykjavík and grew up in a small village called Vogar not far from there. I spent most my summers in the North in an even smaller village on an island called Hrísey.
2. How did you get from there to Moments (describe your journey briefly)?
After having tried my hand at many different jobs I finally found what I wanted to do with my life. I was going to be a history professor. I grew my hair and beard, bought myself a pair of oversized vintage glasses, started smoking a pipe and went to the University of Iceland to study history and philosophy. One day coming into my part-time job as a barman, I overheard my colleagues talking about a play reading and I told them in passing that I'd come along. Long story short I got a part and one of my fellow cast members told me that there was a London based drama school auditioning in Reykjavik and that I should apply. About four months later I was on a plane to London to do what I thought would only be a one year acting course. Seven years have passed and I'm still here.
3. Fun fact that not many people know about you?
I'm completely blank!
4. What do you see yourself doing 30 years from now?
In thirty years I see myself living in the country side and writing my own projects, both for screen and stage. A little cottage, some chickens running around and an armchair in the garden. Whether it be in Iceland or anywhere else doesn't really matter, but something tells me I'll have had enough of London by then.
1. Where are you from?
Hvammstangi in Húnaþing Vestra (Iceland)
2. How did you get from there to Moments (describe your journeybriefly)?
By a car, then a plane, train and a tube and then a bus. W7 to be more precise.
3. Fun fact that not many people know about you?
I always sing "Hold me closer Tony Danza" instead of "tiny dancer" cause first when I heard the song that's what I heard, or thought I heard.
4. What do you see yourself doing 30 years from now?
Lying on a comfortable couch taking a nap. One must dream.
1. Where are you from?
I am from Reykjavík, some roots to Western fjords in Iceland, brought up in Reykjavík West Side!
1. Howdid you get from there to Moments (describe your journey briefly)?
Wow where do we start? Moved to London 8 years ago, drama school met these hard working talented Scandos and from one projects to the other, my own shows and films, acting, singing, producing, directing, naturally progressed to this lovely project.
2. Fun fact that not many people know about you?
My left earlobe is actually made out of different parts of my body, reconstructed after a car accident. Also have a tractors driving licence.
3. What do you see yourself doing 30 years from now?
Being with someone wonderful living life to the full + making music, comedy, films and what have you. Be nice to build a cottage on an exotic island to escape to and find peace amongst nature.
1. Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Árskógssandur, a small fishing village in the North of Iceland.
2. How did you get from there to Moments (describe your journey briefly)?
I started acting while in school and made short films with my buddies. Wishing to fullfil my academic and creative thirst, I went on to study psychology and moved to London to study acting and directing. During my studies, I had the opportunity to get to know and work with my fellow company members and on a number of projects, the latest one being Moments!
3. Fun fact that not many people know about you?
I have never ever broken a bone.
4. What do you see yourself doing 30 years from now?
In 30 years time, I want to have my own large scale film/theatre making company creating art that not only touches the audience, but also helping to make a change to their lives.
